Argentat has a large market on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. Here you can buy locally made cheese, honey, fruit and vegetables, as well as many other items. It is a typical working French market selling items as diverse as rings for bull noses, tractor tyres and the obligatory working blues. It also has a meeting place for the local farmers who come in from the surrounding countryside to exchange news and gossip, and is well worth a visit.

Neuville boasts two restaurants, Le Commerce and Chez Pierrot, both offer local cuisine and provide excellent value for money. At Quatre Routes d'Albussac is the Hotel Roche de Vic where Alain and Claudine Paillier will give you a warm welcome. The food is excellent!

There is a large range of restaurants in Argentat to suit all pockets from the traditional Hotel Fouillade to the Creperie on the Quai. It is worth remembering that most French families eat Sunday lunch out, therefore Sunday evening is not a good time to visit your local hostelry.
